Wow --- today was fun. What more can I say afer we chaperoned a group of 16 boys. YES - that is what I said - 16 boys. All together. 16 nine-years olds. Take a moment to picture that in your mind. OK - now you know, or do you? Quite a challenge. But the boys were into really the compost, worms, the soil study, and the nature walk, the poison ivy, etc. I just can't imagine that the girls would have been excited by any of this, so we blessed with 16 boys...! Save of the day: Lonnie/Randy --- saved Brandon from falling into the stagnet water pit. Quote of the day: from JJ (a NY transplant) about the pollen - "I never had to deal with this stuff in NY" (I guess you had to be there)...! And the best moment of the day was when our final camp counselor got the boys to be quiet and still and listen to nature for 3 minutes. Yes, 3 minutes ---- that is an ETERNITY for 16 nine-year old boys.
God blessed us today. We had wonderful weather, and a really super group of kids (although easily excitable), but none the less, GREAT.
Lonnie - glad you got to experience your first field trip. Just think - next year -- you'll be overnight with these kids...! Oh boy, I'll start praying now.
